Paria Plateau

Antelope Canyon is a beautiful place to shoot, but you never really know what the picture is going to look like because you have to put together several exposures. I like this shot both for the composition, the dark purple framing the brighter and more distant orange rocks and colors, the bright orange at the center yielding to dark purples at the sides.

After lunch on our second day at the plateau, we went up on a mesa to a view of some table rocks. It was about a quarter of a mile from the truck and the sky was overcast with threatening rain and occasional lighting. I stopped halfway to the view because the rain seemed imminent and the lightening seemed to be getting closer. I found these wonderful rocks (fossils?) with a graceful arc and good textures and colors. I took several shots and then headed back for the truck, non too soon, as it started raining just as I headed back.
