After stumbling around in the dark for a few hours looking for this lake, I found it and the aurora cooperated appropriately. I like that the aurora's sublety doesn't distract from the rest of the image.

Driving around Iceland, came across this lovely, ethereal, almost black and white scene.

The picturesque church in Hellnar (actually looks like most of the churches in Iceland) had a great sky and light behind it. I call this my Wyeth. Have been back to the same spot with different light and it is not nearly as interesting.

Iceland has many abandoned farmhouses. I like the contrast between the hard edges and texture in the farmhouse and the pastel colors in the background.

I was struck by the contrast between this immaculate, typical Iceland country/farm house and the lava stone hillside behind it. I spent some time bringing out the textures of the hillside.

The colors and textures of the ground cover in Iceland in the Fall are varied and beautiful.

It's hard to believe how colorful much of Iceland is. This shot shows that color well, taken on an overcast day.

The beach near Vik has a wonderful basalt column cave. Given that the basalt is grey, it is not surprising that this shot works best as a b&W.

Coming back from a sunrise on the beach, I caught this amazing cloud formation in a sunrise glow.

The hotel at Budir is both a wonderful place to stay and dine and a great shooting location. This is one of my favorite panoramas, from about 5 shots.

I had been at this beach before, in overcast conditions with very uninspiring results. The light from the setting sun, the clouds in the background, the mist frim the waves, all contributed to a favorite shot.

The contrast between the man-made diagonal line of the pilings and the serene dawn light around the bay and Kirkjufell make this image.

The black sand ice beach is an endless source of wonderful images. This late afternoon shot looking east to the snow covered mountains has nice layering with the foreground beach ice, the ocean, the mist/clouds and the mountains. The bird adds a nice touch.
