Bullfighter Abstract 1
During my European Grand Tour in '65, I visited Spain and Pamplona and found the art of bullfighting fascinating, although I had and have trouble with the moral and ethical aspects of the sport. I later made a few trips to Mexico and attended bullfights there. On one of those trips, I shot a couple of rolls with a 300mm lens and 1/4 to 1 second exposures. I got two shots I really liked. This is the better one, and probably one of my favorite photographs.

Santa Fe Abstract PM
When I first got back to photography seriously in 1999, I took a workshop at the Santa Fe Workshops by Brenda Tharpe on the Creative Vision. It was a great experience. One of the excercises was to shoot a whole roll on one three dimensional object. I was in town getting something for my camera, and quite exhausted, the workshop was intense, and we had been getting up at ungodly early hours to get to our shoots before sunrise. I knew I needed to get the assignment done and I needed some reasonably small three dimensional object to give me the flexibility to get many angles. I settled on a parking meter in front of the church. I found myself really getting into the assignment, and shot nearly two rolls. This was my favorite. Just as I was packing up to leave, someone from the city put one the red covers on it, and, exhausted as I was, I kept shooting. One of the best "seeing" exercises I have ever done. Highly recommended.
